PROFILE
Welcome
The man hiding behind Zoingimage is better known as Serge Rolland.
His life as a photographer began by accident.
His story begins in a London bar where he was working the nightshift .A man entered the bar carrying a backpack which seemed to be filled with as much as he could possibly carry. Visibly tired and sweating, the man sat down and began to empty the bag of its contents which turned out to be books, books and more books! After he had finished piling the last of his books onto the table, he took two more things out of his bag: a photo album and a camera.
The bar was quiet that night. Serge tried lo look busy by polishing glasses but was curious about this strange man and watched him for the rest of the night. After a few hours of drinking, looking at photographs and laughing to himself, the man packed all of his belongings back into his back.
Before finally leaving he made his way to the counter and handed Serge the camera. At first Serge refused to take it but because the man was so adamant that he should, Serge finally accepted his offer.
For many months the camera sat quietly in Serge’s room until one day he bought his first roll of film…
Although Serge still has this original camera he now uses a Nikon FM2 and combines this classic manual SLR with modern scanning and printing technologies to produce high quality prints.
